Please support "The Syria Accountability Act of 2002" (HR. 4483, S. 2215) that recognizes and denounces Syria's culpability in terrorism

I urge you to support this Bill for many reasons and, in particular, because this Bill

· Manifests a serious frontal assault on terrorism at its roots.

· Constitutes an act of leadership in the international community in its war against terrorism.

· Signals to all anachronistic regimes that the world community will no longer tolerate terrorism.

· Declares the support of the American people for the freedom and sovereignty of Lebanon.

Support of a free, sovereign, and independent Lebanon is in the interest of the United States of America. A strong and independent Lebanon will be a partner in our own fight against terrorism and contribute greatly to the stability of the entire region.

By supporting this Bill, you further the principles of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. You thereby strengthen Lebanon as a pluralistic nation with a tradition of respect to human rights and freedoms of an individual — the very values that we, Americans, hold dear.

Passing this Bill is simply the right thing to do.
